Invitation to Race 2010

Everyone is invited to join us for a great year of racing. Our races are open to all Sailors. Non-Club Members have a special invitation to come enjoy friendly racing and socializing. If you are new to racing this is the perfect opportunity for you to get started. We have a terrific group of sailors who are great sports and will be happy to help you join in the competition.

This year we are going to have three Wednesday Night Race Series. In order to get the most daylight and take advantage of high tides we will start the First March Winds Series March 10th. We will start the first race at 5:00 pm and then maintain a 5:30 pm start for all the rest of the Wednesday night races. The second Wednesday Night Race Series (the Summer Series) will start on May 26th and the third series (the Fall Series) will start on August 25th.

The offshore racing season starts on April 21st with the First Coast Offshore Challenge, a three race series sponsored by SAYC and the North Florida Cruising Club. Again this year the first two races will be based in St. Augustine, followed by a third race from St. Augustine to St. Marys in Georgia. Check out the FCOC2010.com website for more information and to register.

This year we have scheduled most of the offshore club races we held last year, beginning with The Monkey’s Uncle race on May 2nd. Carter and Brenda Quillen sponsor this race every year, and it is always a terrific time and great start to the local offshore racing series. We will also have the Race of the Century in May, Father’s Day Regatta in June, Liberty Race in July, the Navigator’s Challenge in August, Out and Back in September, Moonrise Race in October, and the Commodore’s Cup Race in November.

After each race we will assemble at the yacht club to hear the race results and socialize. A light dinner is available after the Wednesday Night Races, and a full dinner is normally available after the offshore races.

Please join us for another fun-filled season of racing!
